“Before Midnight”, the third and final installment in the fated on-screen meeting between Celine and Jesse (or Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke, if you prefer), has just completed principal photography in the Greek region of Messenia.

Flix was the first to report that the “Before Sunrise” and “Before Sunset” sequel was already underway, a news item that was extensively quoted in the foreign media, proving that this love story and the characters that Linklater built in collaboration with his actors, are still very close to the public’s heart.

There was a lot of speculation about the status of the production, with Ethan Hawke reportedly insisting that they were only visiting Greece to write the script and not shoot the actual movie but, as evidenced by an official statement, it turns out we were right all along!

The film is produced by Richard Linklater’s Detour Films (on the US end) and Christos Konstantakopoulos Faliro House Productions (on the Greek end), in collaboration with Venture 4TH and Castle Rock.

“Before Midnight” will be commercially released in 2012, while Linklater, Delpy and Ethan Hawke said that “it’s great to be back together again, this time in beautiful Greece to revisit the lives of Celine and Jesse nine years after Jesse was about to miss his flight.”

Itching to find out more details about the storyline and see the couple pick up where they left off, it looks like we’re gonna have to wait a while longer, but in the meantime you can always check out the first publicity still of the film and dream on…
